Morphological abnormalities of membrane system in Jph1^tm1Hta/Jph1^tm1Hta skeletal muscle. Longitudinal ultrathin sections of hindlimb (A-D) and jaw (E-H) muscles were analyzed using electron microscopy. Muscle preparations were derived from wild-type (A-E) and Jph1^tm1Hta/Jph1^tm1Hta (C and G) neonates immediately after birth, and wild-type (B and F) and mutant (D and H) neonates around 15 hours after birth. In mutant muscles, morphology of the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) worsened after birth, although mitochondria and myofibril retained normal structures. Scale bar, 1.0um.
