Caption | Proliferation assay of wild-type and Pik3catm1Nbm/Pik3catm1Nbm embryos. Sagittal sections of E9.5 wild-type (panels A-C) and Pik3catm1Nbm/Pik3catm1Nbm (panels D-F) embryos harvested 1 hour after intraperitoneal injection of the pregnant mouse with BrdUrd. A and D are from the midbrain region, B and E are from region of rhombomere, and C and F are from neural tube. Heavy brown staining of most cells in A-C from wild-type embryos indicates that proliferation (as evidenced by BrdUrd incorporation) was taking place. The nearly complete absence of similar staiing in the mutant embryos shows that despite generally normal development up to E9.5, embryonic cells had ceased to proliferate. | ||||
