Caption Patholology of ovary and uterus. A: Sections through the ovary of 5 month old virgin wild-type (wt) and Cyp11b1tm1Chjk/Cyp11b1tm1Chjk (null) females. CL indicated the corpus luteum in wild-type ovary. Antral follicles are present in the mutant female ovary, but the corpus luteum is absent. B: Sections throught the uteri from wild-type (upper panels) and mutant (lower panels) females cut in cross-section (left panels) or longitudinally (right panels). The mutant females have severe endometrial hyperplasia. C: Gross anatomy of uterus (weigtht, 1.36g; length, each horn 4 cm) taken from mutant female with severe adenomyosis. D: Subgross appearance of uterine serosal surface from a mutant female with severe adenomyosis. The surface is cobbled by multiple fluid-filled cysts.
