Hearts of Thbd^tm2Rdr/Thbd^tm2Wlr Tg(Tek-cre)1Ywa/0 mice were enlarged compared with hearts from control mice. (a) The weights of whole hearts from mutant and wild-type mice at age 3, 5 and 8 weeks, corrected for the body weight. Hearts tended to be larger at 3 weeks of age and were significanlty enlarged at 5 and 8 weeks of age in mutant mice. (b and c) H&E stained histological sections obtained at comparative levels from hearts of control (b) and mutant (c) mice. The heart of the mutant is overall enlarged with a striking hypertrophy of the right ventricular wall (arrowheads). Originial magnification, x20.
