Toluidine blue stained sections from wild-type (a-g), Lama2^dy-2J/Lama2^dy-2J (dy2J, h-n), and Lama4^tm1Ktry/Lama4^tm1Ktry (Lama4^-/-, o-u) sciatic nerves at indicated postnatal age, or spinal roots and brachial nerves from 6-9 wk adults. Axon fascicles are sorted by P12 controls, but persist as amyelinated bundles in mutants. Bundles in year-old mutants are small and surrounded by lightly myelinated fibers (k and r). Spinal roots are severely amyelinated in Lama2^dy-2J/Lama2^dy-2J (l and m) but not Lama4^tm1Ktry/Lama4^tm1Ktry (s and t). Brachial nerves contain few amyelinated axons in either mutant (n and u). Bar in o, 14 um (a,h and o); 8 um (b, i and p); 16 um (c,d,j,k,q and r); 20 um (e-g, l-n, and s-u).
