TEM of tibialis anterior muscle from Neb^tm1(cre)Chen/Neb^tm1(cre)Chen mice at postnatal day 1. TEM of relaxed tibialis anterior (TA) muscle from wild-type (+/+, A) and Neb^tm1(cre)Chen/Neb^tm1(cre)Chen (-/-) mice (B) showed relatively normal sarcomeric organization in mutant mice, although some sacromeres were misaligned. TEM of stretched TA muscle from wild-type (C and E) and mutant mice (D and F) revealed myofibrillar misalignment with evidence of myofibril splitting (arrowhead) and fragmentation of Z-lines (arrow) in mutant mice.
