Ultrastructure of lung alveolar epithelial type 2 (AT2) cells from E18.5 fetal wild-type, Abca3^tm1Dgen/Abca3⁺ and Abca3^tm1Dgen/Abca3^tm1Dgen littermates. Lamellar bodies (insets) were readily found in AT2 cells of lungs from wild-type (a) and Abca3^tm1Dgen/Abca3⁺ (b) but not found in lungs from Abca3^tm1Dgen/Abca3^tm1Dgen mice (c). Scale bar, 1 um.
