Step 15 spermatids show deformation of the heads (arrow) and numerous vacuoles (*) in the cytoplasm. Flagella (F) that contain an axoneme, mitochondria, outer dense fibers, and fibrous sheaths are formed; however, these components are disarranged in the cytoplasm. Step 6 spermatids (S6) appear to be normal in shape. B, spermatid phagocytosed by Sertoli cells (S).
