Whole adult mice were skinned and eviscerated and the tissue cleared in 1% KOH with Alizarin Red. Representative images depict the lateral view of the tarsocrural joint at 6,8,11,26, and 35 weeks of age in wild-type (Mop3 +/+) and Bmal1^tm1Bra/Bmal1^tm1Bra (Mop3 -/-) mice (n=9 for each genotype, age 6-35 weeks). Abnormal progressive calcification of the calcaneal tendon and ankylosis of the tarsal joints were evident in mutant mice with age.
