Caption Gross and pathologic anatomy of disseminated S. xylosus infection in Ncf1tm1Shl/Ncf1tm1Shl mice. (A) An abscess of the left hindpaw (arrow) of a 15 week old Ncf1tm1Shl/Ncf1tm1Shl female mouse. This mouse also had cutaneous abscesses of the right periauricular soft tissue and the right forepaw. The lesions were fluctuant and grew S. xylosus in culture. (B) Necropsyy of the mouse shown in A. A 5-mm pyogranuloma of the right caudal lobe of the lung is indicated (arrow).
