Caption | Peripheral retinal degeneration is observed in Lama1tm1Olf/Lama1tm1Olf Edil3Tg(Sox2-cre)1Amc/0 mice as early as 4 weeks of age. H&E staining demonstrates that the central retina of Lama1tm1Olf/Lama1tm1Olf Edil3Tg(Sox2-cre)1Amc/0 mice (Lama1delta) is similar to that of littermate controls (A) at both 4 weeks (B) and 6 months (C) with the exception of the inner limiting membrane defects. The peripheral retina, however, shows thinning of the outer and inner nuclear layers as well as a loss of ganglion cell layer cells in 4 week-old mutants (E) compared with controls (D). This thinning progresses slightly and affects the outer nuclear and inner plexiform layers as well in retinas of 6 month-old mutants (F).
