Caption Light-microscopic histological examination is conducted to evaluate retinal neuropathy in Vav2tm1Kdf/Vav2tm1Kdf Vav3tm1Swat/Vav3tm1Swat (Vav2-/- Vav3-/-) mice. A. At the age of 3 weeks, mutant mice exhibited impairment of angle status, but no abnormal findings of Optic nerve head degeneration (ONH) or retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in the retinas. Scale bars, from left to right side: 500 um, 100 um, and 50 um. B. After evaluation of intraocular pressure (IOP), compared to control wild-type (WT) mice in the upper panel, ONH in 10-, 15-, and 30-week old mutant mice present so-called capping (shown in c) and thin retinal neural layers (indicated by arrows in the photos). In those retinas, RGCs are decreased. Scale bars, from left to right side: 500 um, 100 um and 50 um. Sections are representative from 6-12 samples.
