In addition to the stunted morphology, CD31 staining of E14.5 heads revealed abnormal joining of vessels at various branch points in the Adam17^tm1Imx/Adam17^tm1Imx (Adam17^{deltaZn/deltaZn}) embryos (B,D) and their absence in the wild-type (Adam17^+/+) counterparts (A,C). Scale bars are 200 um.
