The dermis and subcutis of 3 month old male Gnas^tm1Gwa/Gnas⁺ mice. Male Gnas^tm1Gwa/Gnas⁺ mice with the maternally inherited (-m/+) and paternally inherited (+/-p) Gnas allele and female Gnas^tm1Gwa/Gnas⁺ mice had no heterotopic bone formation. However, there were subtle lesions in the dermis of both -m/+ and +/-p male mutant mice that comprised widely scattered plaque-like areas with pale collagen and increased cellularity in periadnexal areas of the reticular dermis.
