Caption Eye phenotypes of the progeny from the Srebf2Gt(YTA054)Byg/Srebf2+ and Srebf2lop13 complementation cross. (A) Eye image from a Srebf2lop13/Srebf2+ mouse indicates normal lenses at 8 weeks of age, while the lenses from the Srebf2Gt(YTA054)Byg/Srebf2lop13 mice exhibit total cataracts (B). Histological analysis from Srebf2Gt(YTA054)Byg/Srebf2lop13 mice indicates presence of swollen fiber cells (arrow) and bladder cells (arrowhead) in the lens in comparison to highly organized lens fiber cells in the Srebf2lop13/Srebf2+ cortical region (C). At the lens posterior of Srebf2lop13/Srebf2+ (F) bladder cells, morgagnian globules and liquefied lens material (asterisk) was identified in contrast to clear and organized lens structures observed in Srebf2lop13/Srebf2+ lenses (E).
