(D) H&E staining of paraffin sections of epididymal fat depots from wild-type (+/+) and Lgals12^tm1Ftl/Lgals12^tm1Ftl (-/-) mice (representative of four experiments). Average diameters of >200 isolated adipocytes were determined from their digital images with ImageJ software using 100-um Polybead polystyrene microspheres (Polysciences) as references. Results are from 22- to 24-week-old males. Asterisks denote statistical significance (*P < 0.05).
