(I) Focal cerebral ischemia was induced by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery. Double deletion of both Panx1^tm1.1Fama/Panx1^tm1.1Fama (Px1-/-) and Panx2^tm1.1Mony/Panx2^tm1.1Mony (Px2-/-) significantly reduced the infarct volume compared with wild-type mice (Px1+/+ Px2+/+) littermates. **P < 0.01 (t test, n = 6-10).
