Il33^tm1Aki/Il33^tm1Aki mice show reduced accumulation of eosinophils in the lungs after S. venezuelensis infection. (A) Histological analysis of lungs of wild-type (Il33+/+) and Il33^tm1Aki/Il33^tm1Aki (Il33-/-) mice was performed before (cont) and after S. venezuelensis infection (Sv). PAS, periodic acid-Schiff stain. (Scale bars, 100 um). After infection, wild-type mice develop eosinophilic inflammation and goblet-cell hyperplasia in the lungs at day 7, but mutant mice only modestly developed these changes.
