(B) Liver sections from control and Hmox1^tm1.1Gkl/Hmox1^tm1.1Gkl Lyz2^tm1(cre)Ifo/Lyz2⁺ (HO-1^M-KO) mice infected intravenously with 10⁶ CFU L monocytogenes either in the absence (a and b) or presence (c and d) of 100 ug polyI:C were stained with H&E to assess inflammation. Livers from mutant mice witho or without coadministration of polyI:C were relatively clear of tissue abscesses. Representative sections from two independent experiments with five mice per group are shown. Bars, 100 uM.
