Aberrant morphology of Paneth and goblet cells of mice hemizygous or homozygous for Yipf6^M1Btlr (Klein-Zschocher). H&E (A-D) and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining (E-H) of small intestines and colons (magnification 200x). Arrows point to Paneth cells; asterisks are beside goblet cells. Although overall morphology of the small intestine and colon was normal (A-D), Paneth and goblet cells are reduced in number, contained less stainable material, and were oddly shaped (E-H). The mucin content of the colon was also drastically reduced (G and H).
