Inner ears (front and back views) from wild-type (A, B), Lmx1a^mtl/Lmx1a^mtl (C, D) and Lmx1a^bsd/Lmx1a^bsd (E, F) mice are shown. Both homozygotes show underdeveloped cochlear ducts (red arrowheads) compared to their wild-type littermates. Vestibular system in homozygotes appears like a cyst without semicircular canals (white arrowheads).
