USP44 is required for proper spindle geometry. (A) Confocal immunofluorescence microscopy was performed on Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts (MEFs) of wild-type (Usp44^+/+) and Usp44^tm1.2Pjgl/Usp44^tm1.2Pjgl (Usp44^-/-) MEFs using antibodies against the indicated proteins. Mutant MEFs show abnormal spindle geometry, with spindle poles not lying perpendicular to the metaphase plate. Scale bar: 5 um.
