Annulus and mitochondrial disruptions in Slirp^tm1.2Pjle/Slirp^tm1.2Pjle sperm. Electron micrographs of wild-type (A & B) and Slirp^tm1.2Pjle/Slirp^tm1.2Pjle sperm (C & D). The annulus of both the wild-type and mutant sperm are highlighted (white arrows). The cisternae of the mutant mouse mitochondria are less defined and their matrices are more electron dense than those of the wild-type mice. Electron microscopy was performed as described in Arsov T, et al. (2006) Mol Endocrinol 20(7):1610-1622.
