Caption Comparison of filopodia density in wild-type vs. Igs1tm11(CAG-Bgeo,-Edn2)Nat/Igs1+ Tg(Six3-cre)69Frty/0 (Z/Edn2;Six3-Cre) retinal vasculature at P7. (A-H) Four representative images are shown for each genotype. Surface vasculature is visualized with GS-lectin staining, and filopodia are scored with red dots when they are at the growing vascular front and green dots when they are in the interior. We note that the higher density of endothelial cells in the mutant plexus hampers a rigorous comparison of the filopodial density between the two samples behind the vascular front, because the only filopodia that can be reliably scored are the filopodia that traverse a cell-free zone. (Scale bar: 100 um.)
