Absence of vascular defects in the brains of embryonic day 18 (E18) Igs1^{tm11(CAG-Bgeo,-Edn2)Nat}/Igs1⁺ Foxg1^tm1(cre)Skm/Foxg1⁺ (Z/Edn2;Foxg1-Cre) mice. (A and B) No alterations in CNS vascular architecture are apparent in E18 cerebral cortex of mutant mice relative to control mice as determined by GS-lectin staining. The cortical surface is to the right. (Scale bar: 200 um.) (C and D) Cleft palate (green arrow; the tongue is at the bottom center of the coronal section) and (E and F) open eyelids (green bracket) at E18 provide evidence that bioactive Edn2 is being produced in the heads of mutant mice.
