Caption | Histomorphometry of Tg(Col1a1-tTA)139Niss/0 Tg(tetO-HTR4*D100A)7Niss/0 (Coll(2.3)+/Rs1+) femurs from 3-week old mice. (A and B) Histomorphometry of femurs at 3 weeks of age by von Kossa/tetrachrome staining shows disorganized trabeculi and a population of uniform cells replacing the normal bone marrow and lining the surface of the trabeculi. (C and D) Bone mineral apposition assessed by dual fluorochrome also shows a disordered growth pattern in the mutant mice, similar to that seen in 9-week-old mice. (E and F) TRAP staining also suggests increased osteoclast activity consistent with the increased bone surface. (Scale bars, 50 mm.) | ||||||
