Piezo1^{Gt(RST343)Byg}/Piezo1^{Gt(RST343)Byg} (Piezo^gt/gt) embryos display vascular remodeling defects but show normal heart development. Asterisks highlight vessels that branch from major to minor sizes and show a wide distribution of vessel sizes in wild-type vs. mutant. (B) Representative images of PECAM1-stained whole-mount embryonic head vasculature at E9.5 and E10.5 and quantification of large head vessel number at E10.5. At E9.5. mutant embryos showed a rudimentary vascular network with no long branches forming in the head (triangles) and little outgrowths of intersomitic vessels (arrows).
