Caption Tbx3tm2Moon/Tbx3tm1.1Moon (GH/N) mutants have multiple cardiac arrhythmias. (A) Doppler ultrasound recordings of blood flow velocity (y axis) vs. time (x axis) from E12.5 ventricles. Flow into the ventricle occurs during atrial contraction ("A"), and flow out of the ventricle during ventricular contraction ("V"). Normal 1:1 ratio of A and V is shown in Tbx3+/Tbx3tm1.1Moon (+/N). The Tbx3tm2Moon/Tbx3tm1.1Moon (GH/N) hypomorph has abnormal 5:1 and 4:1 ratios; the white arrows indicate A not followed by V. (B) Direct ECG recordings of E13.5 embryos: electrical activity (y axis) vs. time (x axis). Wild-type (+/+) shows normal P wave (atrial depolarization) followed by QRS complex (ventricular depolarization); there is 1:1 AV conduction. In a Tbx3tm2Moon/Tbx3tm1.1Moon (GH/N) hypomorph, QRS occurs only after every third or fourth P wave (3:1 or 4:1 AV block).
