Delayed maturation of the ribs in Utf1^tm1Okud/Utf1^tm1Okud (KO) embryos during embryogenesis. Alizarin and Alcian blue staining was applied to heterozygous and homozygous mutant embryos. Cartilaginous (14.5 dpc homozygote) and ossified (14.5 dpc heterozygote and 16.5 dpc homozygote) ribs are indicated by red and blue brackets, respectively.
