(F-I) Detection of subepithelial collagen deposition by Sirius red staining in PBS and OVA-sensitized control (Q576) and Il4ra^tm2Tch/Il4ra^tm2Tch (R576) mice . Values represent means +/- SEM of results from 8-10 mice derived from two independent experiments. Sirius red staining reveals markedly increased subepithelial collagen deposition in the mutant mice as compared with controls. These findings indicate that the R576 mutation exacerbates chronic sequelae of airway inflammation, such as airway remodeling. HPF, high power field. Bars, 100 um.
