Grid2^ts3/Grid2^ts3 (ts3) purkinje cells (PC) demonstrate a characteristic of senescent cell as observed by electron microscopy. Electron photomicrographs of PC cells in 30-week-old wild-type (WT) (A, B) and mutant (C, D, E) mice. Lipofuscin accumulation in cell bodies (arrowheads in B and C), representing senescent postmitotic neurons, was observed in mutant, but not in WT PC cells. Scale bars, A, B, 5 um; C, D, 2 um; E, 0.5 um.
