Aggravated pancreatic fibrosis promoted by Smad4 deficiency in the context of TGFalpha overexpression. Enhanced fibrosis was observed in the Smad4^tm1.1Gsu/Smad4^tm1.1Gsu Ptf1a^{tm1.1(cre)Cvw}/Ptf1a⁺ Tg(MtTGFA)Lmb/0 (STP) mice as measured by vimentin expression. (A) Pancreas specimens from Tg(MtTGFA)Lmb/0 (MT-TGFalpha) (panel i) and STP (panel ii) mice treated with 8-months of zinc sulfate were immunolabled with anti-vimentin antibody.
