All Notch1^tm3(cre)Rko/Notch1^tm2Rko (N1::Cre^lo/fl) mice developed corneal plaques after 2-3 months and this phenotype became more severe as animals aged. LacZ staining revealed that the transparent cornea was transformed into a skin-like structure with neo-angiogenesis. Not all ECs and keratinocytes were labeled with lacZ.
