Gross appearance and skeletal specimens of whole skeleton (B), forelimb (C), lumbar spine (D), ilia (E), and forepaw (F) of wild-type, Col2a1^Rgsc856/Col2a1⁺ (hetero), and Col2a1^Rgsc856/Col2a1^Rgsc856 (homo) mutant mice at E18.5. The homozygotes exhibited a severe skeletal dysplasia, including extremely shortened limbs, platyspondyly, severe pelvic hypoplasia, and brachydactyly.
