Caption | Bright and fluorescent images of Neurofilament of beta-tubulin innunostained E9.5-10.5 (a) wild-type and (b) Med23snouty/Med23snouty (snouty) embryos. Arrowheads and arrows highlight agenesis or hypoplasia of neuronal differentiation in the midbrain and cranial ganglia. Mutants show only a single domain of neurofilament or beta-tubulin staining localized to the proximal end of the first pharyngeal arch probably representing a rudimentary trigeminal ganglion (arrowhead). There is little evidence of neuronal differentiation caudal to the trigeminal ganglion and no evidence of any axonal branching throughout the cranial region (arrows). Abbreviations: pl, plexus; f, facioacoustic/vestibule cochlear; g, glossopharyngeal; tg, trigeminal; v. vagal. | ||||
