Bright and fluorescent images of PECAM-1 immunostained E9.5-10.5 (a) wild-type and (b) Rdh10^trex/Rdh10^trex (trex) embryos. Arrowheads and arrows indicate perturbed pharyngeal arch artery formation and anomalies in vascular plexus development, respectively. PECAM-1 staining shows an absence of the third-sixth pharyngeal arteries, a persistent connection between the second arch artery and endocardium of the outflow tract of the heart, and a narrower dorsal aorta.
