Bright and fluorescent images of PECAM-1 immunostained E9.5-10.5 (a) wild-type and (b) Kdr^orv/Kdr^orv (orvieto) embryos. Arrowheads and arrows indicate perturbed pharyngeal arch artery formation and anomalies in vascular plexus development, respectively. Mutant embryos are devoid of any vasculature. PECAM-1 staining reveals the total absence of endothelial cells, primary vessels and secondary capillaries along with failure of chorio-allantoic fusion.
