Caption Mice homozygous for the nee mutation develop a form of lipodystrophy. Coronal slices obtained by MRI showing an absence of subcutaneous and visceral adipose tissue in Sh3pxd2bnee/Sh3pxd2bnee (nee) mice. With this pulse sequence, fat appears white and muscle and water appear gray or black. Images are from the same pair of 8-month-old female mice; littermate control is homozygous for the wild-type (WT) allele.
