Caption | Hematoxylin and Eosin staining of sections of renal cortex from wild-type (WT), Ptgs2tm1Unc/Ptgs2tm1Unc (COX-2 null) and Ptgs2tm1.1Wls/Ptgs2tm1.1Wls (Delta18 COX-2) mice. Kidneys were harvested from mice after euthanasia and fixed in 10% formalin in phosphate-buffered saline, pH 7.4. Kidneys were embedded in paraffin for staining with H & E. A. Renal cortex from WT mouse. B. Renal cortex from Ptgs2tm1Unc/Ptgs2tm1Unc mouse. C. Renal cortex from Ptgs2tm1.1Wls/Ptgs2tm1.1Wls mouse. (Original magnification, x 200) Arrows indicate glomeruli. The results show that the renal cortex in Ptgs2tm1Unc/Ptgs2tm1Unc mice exhibit glomerular hypoplasia and hypertrophy of glomeruli as reported previously, but sections from renal cortex of WT and Ptgs2tm1.1Wls/Ptgs2tm1.1Wls mice are morphologically indistinguishable. | ||||||
