Impaired cardiac function in Dicer1^tm1Smr/Dicer1^tm1Smr Tg(Myh6-cre)2182Mds/0 (-/-) mutant hearts. (A) M-mode echocardiograms of P0 wild-type (+/+) and mutant mice. Mutant mice exhibit severe left ventricle dilation coupled with a dramatic decrease in fractional shortening. Notably, the left ventricle posterior wall thickness at end diastole was significantly increased, without significant change at end systole, indicating a significant loss of ventricle force generation and cardiac malfunction in mutant hearts.
