Reactive gliosis in Aspa^{tm1a(EUCOMM)Wtsi}/Aspa^{tm1a(EUCOMM)Wtsi} mice. Immunohistochemical staining in the thalamus of wild-type (aspa^+/+) controls and Aspa^{tm1a(EUCOMM)Wtsi}/Aspa^{tm1a(EUCOMM)Wtsi} (aspa^lacZ/lacZ) mice showed substantially increased numbers of GFAP-positive astrocytes and Iba-1-positive microglia in the mutants (at 3 months of age). Note that ASPA immunoreactivity is present in the control but not in the mutant. Bars: 25 um.
