Caption Generation of the Smyd2tm1.1Fben allele. (A) The targeting vector contains a short (0.6 kb) and a long (7.4 kb) arm of homology, a neomycin resistance cassette (neo) for positive selection, and a thymidine kinase cassette for negative selection. Two site-specific recombination sites were employed in vivo. Flp recombinase was used to delete the neo marker from the mouse germline and Cre recombinase afterwards allows for the conditional deletion of Smyd2 in selected tissues. Two loxP sites flank the region to be deleted. This region includes exon 1 of Smyd2.
