Caption Generation of Elp1tm1a(KOMP)Wtsi and Elp1tm1c(KOMP)Wtsi alleles. (A) Schematic of the conditional mutagenesis in the Ikbkap gene. The top shows the Ikbkaptm1a(KOMP)Wtsi allele with a FRT flanked lacZ cassette and exon 4 flanked by loxP sites. The beta-gal-cassette in the knockout Ikbkaptm1a(KOMP)Wtsi allele, which does not express Ikbkap, was removed via Flippase-mediated recombination. In the new Ikbkaptm1c(KOMP)Wtsi (IkbkapLoxP) allele, Ikbkap is expressed; but exon 4 is flanked by LoxP sites (black triangles) and can be conditionally excised by cre recombinase to produce the IkbkapCKO (IC) mutant.
