Caption Homozygous Leprdb-3J/Leprdb-3J mice are first visually recognizable at about 3 to 4 weeks old by their obesity in comparison to normal littermates. An interesting feature of this mutation on the 129P3/J background shown here is persistent hyperglucagonemia despite moderating hyperinsulinemia in older mice, probably a feature of the background difference between this mutation and the original Leprdb mutation.
