Caption | A: The epidermis of the control and Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr appears similar, although the dermis appears more cellular in the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr. At E17.5 the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr epidermis is thicker with a flattened skin surface. At birth (PO) the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr epidermis is on average three times thicker then the control (Bars indicate length), as well as having fewer and abnormally arranged keratohyalin granules (brackets). B: Staining for keratin 14 (K14) at E17.5 shows an increased thickness and flattening of the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr. Keratin 6 (K6) is only express in the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr. Loricrin (Lor) was not concentrated at the plasma membrane of granular cells in the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr. C: E17.5 embryos incubated overnight show penetration into the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr but not the control. D: Oil red O staining shows numerous fat droplets in the squamous layer of the Slc27a4wrfr/Slc27a4wrfr but not the control. | ||||
