Image
Caption Wild type mice (A and C), Agttm1Ii/Agttm1Ii mice (B, D-H). Coronal sections of the kidneys from wild type (A) and mutant mice (B) at 3 weeks of age. Pelvic dilatation was present in mutant mice, with atrophic papilla compared to wild type mice. Normal arterioles (C) in wild type mice. (D) Medial hyperplasia of interlobular artery and afferent arterioles. (E) Immunoreactivity to renin is demonstrated along the interlobular artery and afferent arteriole. (F) Glomerulus showing axial mesangial expansion. (G) Patchy fibrosis and mononuclear cell infiltrate in the interstitium. (H) Dilated tubules in the outer medulla. Interstitial fibrosis is also seen around the dilated tubules. (PAS stain; A and B, x10; C and D, x300; E and F, x600; H, x150) The length of the bars represents 1mm; A and B, 33um; C, D and G, 17um; E and F, 17um; H, 67um, respectively.
