Caption | A: Cyanosis in the newborn Atf2tm1Glm/Atf2tm1Glm (-/-) pups. The newborn pups generated by mating between Atf2tm1Glm/Atf2+ heterozygotes (+/-) are indicated. The color of the mutant is pale, indicating cyanosis. B: Presence of meconium in the mutant lung. The lung sections were prepared from the wild-type (+/+) and mutants and analyzed by microscopy. The mutant lung contains meconium. C: Absence of air in the mutant lung. The lungs were prepared from newborn pups and were then put into PBS solution. The lungs from the wild-type or heterozygote floated on PBS, whereas those from mutants sank to the bottom of the container containing PBS. | ||||
