Caption | Abnormal development of Nfe2l1tm1Ywk/Nfe2l1tm1Ywk Nfe2l2tm1Ywk/Nfe2l2tm1Ywk embryos. A: E10.5 Nfe2l1tm1Ywk/Nfe2l1tm1Ywk Nfe2l2tm1Ywk/Nfe2l2tm1Ywk embryos are small and developmentally delayed. Photographs were taken immediately after dissection of littermates harvested from Nfe2l2tm1Ywk/Nfe2l2+ Nfe2l2tm1Ywk/Nfe2l2tm1Ywk intercrossing, and embryos were determined alive by the presence of a heartbeat. Shown is histologic analysis of E10.5 compound mutant embryos showing features of apoptosis observed in the fascial ganglion (b), developing brain (c), and neural tube (d). TUNEL stain of a control embryo (e) is compared with compound mutant embryos (f and g) showing extensive apoptosis. | ||||||
