Caption Hypomorphism (G) and splenomegaly (H) of wild-type (WT, upper) and Bnip3ltm1.1Gwd/Bnip3ltm1.1Gwd (Nix-/-, lower) mice. (G) Mutant mice survive to at least 18 months of age, but are externally distinguishable from wild-type mice by modest growth retardation. No organ abnormalities were observed except for striking enlargement of mutant spleens (H) wich averaged ~80% heavier in mutants compared to wild-type mice.
