In controls (A and B), the internuclear commissure is strongly labeled (arrow), and Dil-labeled cells are observed at the level of the abducens nucleus (VI). (C and D) In Egr2tm2(cre)Pch/Egr2+ Robo3tm1.1Ache/Robo3tm1.1Ache (Krox20::cre;Robo3lox/lox) mutants, the Dil-labeled internuclear commissure is severely reduced. Some Dil-labeled fibers are still found on the contralateral side, but no cells are traced in the vicinity of the abducens nucleus. In Robo3tm1Matl/Robo3tm1Matl (Robo3-/-) mice (E and F), the commissure is almost completely absent. No cells are traced on the contralateral side. Scale bars represent 100 um.
